Former student bags a place on British Film Institute's residential programme
A former Barnsley College A Level Media student secured a place on the renowned British Film Institute’s residential programme.
Nineteen-year-old Ben Squires from Dodworth, was one of just 54 of the nation’s most promising young filmmakers to take part in the 11-day masterclass programme where film-makers share experiences and showcase examples of their work. On the final day of the residential, all participants travelled to London for the screening of their finished short films. The students also presented their finished ‘behind-the-scences’ film about the academy residential, in which all 54 participants appeared.
Ben’s tutor, Simon Casken, said: “Ben has always been a polite, modest and friendly student who was a pleasure to teach.
“It is extremely prestigious to be given a place on the British Film Institute Film Academy’s residential programme and I cannot think of a more deserving student.”
Ben added: “It was an amazing experience to meet so many other people as passionate and dedicated to film making as I am.”
